Dr. Lazaros Tzounis (Dipl. Materials Science & Engineering) received in 2010 a Diploma of Materials Science Engineering, University of Ioannina Greece. He received a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry of Polymeric Materials - Technical University of Dresden, Germany (2014). This was followed by a post-doc at the Leibniz IPF Institute. Then, he moved to the Lab for Thin Films, Nanosystems & Nanometrology, University of Thessaloniki, Greece. Currently, he works as a Post-doc / Lecturer at the Materials Science Engin. Dept. University of Ioannina.
He is expert in the study of electrical, thermoelectric, light emitting (e.g OLEDs) and photovoltaic (e.g OPVs) properties of organic materials. Finally, he is speciallist in the investigation of surface morphology of nanostructures by SEM and AFM and size determination of nano-objects; interphase study of multi-layer structures using TEM and sample preparation by cryo- or room-temperature ultramicrotomy
He specializes in the fabrication of thermoelectric, light emitting (e.g OLEDs) and photovoltaic (e.g OPVs) devices, inorganic & hybrid perovskite materials, Fabrication and synthesis of novel Polymeric materials filled with Carbon allotropes (CNTs, graphene, fullerenes, etc), Chemistry of carbon materials and synthesis of different functional nano-colloids; Catalysis, Sensors, Printed electronics (OPVs, PePVs, TEGs).
Recent research activity in 3D printing of functional plastic objects and Rapid Prototyping (conductive electrodes, strain/ bending sensors, ECG/EMG electrodes, splints, self-heated objects, splints, surgery equipment).
