Ideas for a New DIY Machine for Community FabLabs

Hi everyone,

I’ve been thinking about designing a new type of machine that could be useful in FabLabs, and I wanted to get feedback from the community. My idea is a compact, multi-material prototyping machine that combines laser cutting, CNC milling, and 3D printing into a single modular unit. The goal is to make it easier for small labs or hobbyists to work with different materials without needing separate machines.

Has anyone here experimented with hybrid machines like this? What are the biggest challenges in integrating multiple fabrication methods? Also, if you have suggestions for features or safety considerations that should be included, I’d love to hear them.
