STEM Innovation Lab at Nguyen Hue High School, Dak Lak Province, Vietnam, is a school-based makerspace that empowers students to learn through creativity, experimentation, and hands-on problem solving. We are part of a public high school with a strong academic tradition and a proven record on the national stage: our students have competed in Vietnam's National Science and Engineering Fair for many consecutive years and have twice taken home the national first prize. That track record is the foundation we build on — bridging classroom knowledge with real-world application.
Inspired by the FabLab philosophy of "learning by making," we give students and teachers the tools to design, prototype, and test their own ideas across robotics, engineering, programming, and digital fabrication. Recent student work shows what that looks like in practice: a device that monitors highways and issues early warnings to help prevent traffic accidents, and an interactive game-based system that teaches and trains Braille for the visually impaired. These are not classroom exercises — they are real solutions to real problems, built by students learning to think critically, collaborate, and approach challenges like engineers and entrepreneurs.
Our mission is rooted in our region. We want to nurture local talent while tackling challenges that matter to our community — from road safety to accessibility — and make STEM learning engaging, hands-on, and within reach for young people who don't always see these opportunities around them.
By joining the global FabLabs network, we hope to connect our students and educators with an international community of makers — to learn from others, share what works for us, and contribute ideas shaped by our own context here in Vietnam. Our vision is to raise a new generation of problem solvers who create lasting, positive change in their communities and beyond.
