The Polytechnic University of the Valley of Mexico (UPVM), in collaboration with the startup Made Bionic, has established a Digital Fabrication Laboratory (FABLAB) as part of the Laboratory for Scientific and Technological Innovation and Entrepreneurship (LINECT). This initiative promotes sustainable progress and enhances the quality of life for people in the State of Mexico. UPVM offers the following educational programs: Agroindustrial Engineering, Biotechnology Engineering, Logistics and Transportation Engineering, Automotive Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Nanotechnology Engineering, Information Technology Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Management. Meanwhile, Made Bionic is a startup founded at UPVM that specializes in additive manufacturing of medical devices using high-performance biopolymers; their products include cranial implants, retractors, crowns, and more.
Made Bionic has 2 utility models and a patent for its additive manufacturing in medical devices. Together with UPVM, it constitutes a FABLAB that is equipped with 9 FDM printers using various materials such as PEEK, PET, Nylon, PLA, ABS, TPU, PETG, etc.; 3 SLA printers ranging from Formlabs to Anycubic; a laser cutting machine; a CNC router; a machine for creating electrical circuits; 1 industrial scanner; 1 dental scanner; as well as various machines and tools.
The FABLAB of LINECT is part of its mission to develop an ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship in scientific and technological development. It aims to implement sustainable projects and strategies that demonstrate how science and technology can come together to address the challenges faced by various economic and social sectors, thereby creating a more sustainable future.
