FabLab Hong Kong (founded 2015) is a non-profit lab for makers who want prototypes to scale into real-world sustainability outcomes. While our community spans multiple disciplines, our core strength is fabrication hardware and applied making technology—building, modifying, and operating machines, not just using them.
What sets us apart from many FabLabs is that we function as a production-capable R&D workshop, funded through commissioned technology development, design, and fabrication services—then reinvesting that capability into training, experimentation, and community projects.
Our recent initiative, RePlastic (launched 2022), turns local plastic waste into new material streams and products by developing and customizing recycling machines and processes—producing injection-molded parts, boards/sheets, furniture, and 3D-printing filament. With 2024's recognition via the NEXX Sustainability & ESG Awards (Startup Innovation Award), FabLab Hong Kong is where circular-economy making is grounded in hardware, throughput, and repeatable fabrication.
