OFab at ETSAC got started in the 2013-2014 academic year, transforming the school’s traditional model workshop into a digital fabrication lab. Since then, we’ve grown both in terms of equipment and in training students and professors from the technical schools at the University of A Coruña.
We run courses on parametric design and digital fabrication, and we’re also involved in teaching various subjects in the Architecture degree programs. These subjects cover areas like Graphic Expression, Composition, Urbanism, Design Projects, Construction, and Architectural Structures. We also work closely with the University’s Master’s programs in Architecture, Architectural Rehabilitation, and the BIM Master’s, a specialized program taught at the Technical Architecture School.
When it comes to research, we collaborate with groups like codemosh and the timber structures team, among others. We were also active participants in Coronavirus Makers Galicia, where one of our team members coordinated the design group.
On top of that, we love getting involved in events and student activities—like ETSAC’s participation in the MUGAK International Biennial in San Sebastián.
Up until now, we’ve been known as OFab at ETSAC. However, three of our researchers will be completing the FabAcademy 2025 program, so we’re officially applying to join the international FabLab network. As part of this step, we’ll be updating our name to FabLab ETSAC Coruña.
