CBTLab is a Fab Lab under the Department of Engineering Technology, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City – Campus in Ben Tre (VNUHCM-CBT). Located in the Mekong Delta, the lab focuses on engineering technology, construction, and GIS applications for climate change adaptation. It supports research, prototyping, and technology transfer for resilient infrastructure, environmental monitoring, and geospatial solutions.
The lab provides open access to digital fabrication tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, electronics workbenches, sensors, drones, and GIS workstations. CBTLab develops prototypes for climate-resilient housing, flood and salinity monitoring devices, drone mapping, and participatory community mapping. It connects students, researchers, lecturers, local authorities, businesses, and citizens to co-design practical responses to sea-level rise, saltwater intrusion, riverbank erosion, and extreme weather.
Beyond prototyping, CBTLab organizes training, workshops, and innovation challenges on digital fabrication, GIS, sensor systems, and design thinking. It serves as a regional hub for open innovation and international collaboration in the Mekong Delta. Through hands-on learning and community engagement, CBTLab aims to strengthen local capacity for climate adaptation and sustainable development.
