InMachines is currently involved in a 3-year funded research project, having the goal of creating an open source machine inventory for Fab Labs and Makerspaces. During the project we will develop the complete range of machines a Fab Lab normally uses: 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC milling machines, 3D scanner, vinyl cutter. For the above project we are looking for experienced fabbers / makers that can join us as “Open Source Machine Developer” to help us develop the open source machines. Your tasks: Help the development of the open source machines with: Research analysis about the current state of the art Development of mechanical / electronics / automation systems Prototyping, production and implementation of the above systems Machines assembly, testing Help with the documentation of open source machines: Design the documentation structure Produce documentation about reproduction, assembly, etc. Publishing of the documentation Run machine building workshops: Prepare machine kits Take care of the workshop organization Lecture and assist the workshops Help with Fab Lab consultancy and daily tasks What we can offer you: To work in a Fab Lab based research project To work in a dynamic and international team To be in the Fab Lab network (eg the Fab Conferences) To work in a fully equipped Fab Lab dedicated to machine building To have your footprint in state of the art open source machine building Minimum requirements: Fab Academy Diploma Bachelor Degree Preferred qualifications: Experience as Fab Academy instructor Master degree, possibly in Mechanical / Electronics / Mechatronics engineering or other 1 or more years of working experience in Fab Labs Previous development of open source (hardware) projects
