The FabLab Farol da Criatividade (The FabLab Lighthouse of Creativity, in English) is the creative and technological center of the Escola Municipal de Ensino Fundamental Doutor Paulo da Silva Couto, located in the city of São Leopoldo, in the southern region of Brazil. We work with Elementary School classes, escalating to Early Childhood Education classes (4 and 5 years old). Currently, we produce modern board games with card games and literary books (such as children's sensory books, pop-up books, manga and comic books). We are part of the Nestlé for Healthier Kids program, which represents a combined effort to support parents and caregivers on their journey to raise healthy children. We promote 5 healthy habits:
- Have a nutritious and varied diet;
- Play actively;
- Drink more water;
- Enjoy meals together; It is
- Portion to eat better.

We are also focused on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
03. Good health and well-being
04. Quality education

In view of this, we are currently working on our "flagship" project called: Magical Fortresses: A modern board game with integrated stories inspired by students' reading habits to promote healthy habits.

The goal of this project is to develop a modern board game with integrated stories, inspired by the reading habits of students, specifically, elementary school students at the Doutor Paulo da Silva Couto Municipal Elementary School, located in the city of São Leopoldo, in Rio Grande do Sul. Based on the results of this investigation, a modern board game is being developed, which includes special cards (of characters, artifacts, traps, magic, enchantments, skills, etc.), scenarios, miniatures, a dice tower, markers, among other elements. Each element of the game (including the rules) is contextualized and explained by a literary story, thus constituting a collection of stories integrated into the game. Students are responsible for both creating the game elements and writing the stories. The definition of the short story genre itself is based on the results of the investigation into the reading habits of their classmates. All of these activities take place in Portuguese and Religious Education classes, involving classes 73, 74 and 64. We also have the support of colleagues from the school's digital manufacturing team, the Farol da Criatividade FabLab, during extracurricular hours. Digital manufacturing is a production process that combines software that helps in the creation of drawings/projects in the digital environment with automated production techniques, specifically, in our case, 3D printing. In this way, this project seeks to stimulate creativity, cooperation between classes, reading and writing, integrating literature, technology and art in a fun and engaging way.
